“Everybody wants to see an approval request before it moves to the next person. SelectSuite on the go allows them to do that without tying them to their desk or delaying the process.”
Introducing SelectSuite on the go
Keeping up with the fast-paced world of higher education talent management often means staying on top of tasks, even when you’re away from the office — which can jeopardize work-life balance or professional goals … unless you’ve got the right tools and technology.
“If I’m off and running to different meetings or traveling and I don’t have my laptop with me, it’s difficult to get to the large volume of work that comes through my queue,” said NeeCee Cornish, director of enterprise database and integrations at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California.
That changed when Western University of Health Sciences began serving as a beta tester for SelectSuite on the go — an easy-to-use, mobile-friendly version of SelectSuite — which allows users to easily manage tasks from any location using a smartphone, tablet, or other mobile device.
“With SelectSuite on the go, I’m able to actually take action,” NeeCee said. “I can check my inbox, I can move things to the next level, and I can switch between my user groups.”
The mobile-friendly solution also allows requests to move more quickly through complex approval structures.
“Everybody wants to see an approval request before it moves to the next person,” said Brock Sizer, HRIS manager at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, another beta test site. “SelectSuite on the go allows them to do that without tying them to their desk or delaying the process.”
The freedom to process requests without being tied to a desk, Brock said, is particularly important for faculty.
“We have a lot of faculty members — especially those on search committees — who want to be able to work from their iPads and Android devices,” Brock explained. “They’re away from their desks all the time. They’re in lectures, they’re across campus … that kind of thing. So when they can take action on requests and other tasks without going back to their office, they really enjoy it.”
Users also find the solution easy to navigate.
“If you know how to use a tablet or a smartphone, which most people do, that’s really all you need to know. It’s pretty intuitive,” NeeCee said. “And I’ve gotten a lot of feedback from our users — they really love it.”
